Dominique Kristen Rios, BFA. Co-Owner & Artistic Director
Dominique has her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from Texas State University in San Marcos and graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. She began her dance career with the Alief Jazz Ballet Dance Company in Houston, Texas under the direction of Anna Ashy. She received the Best Technique Award while with the company and was given an immense amount of performance opportunities as well as participated in various dance conventions throughout the years. Dominique then went on to continue her training at the University of Houston and Houston Community College until finally transferring to Texas State to complete her dance degree. At Texas State, Dominique performed regularly in both faculty and student produced shows. She was a member of the Orchesis Dance Company and the Merge Dance Company and served as a teaching assistant for the modern classes. With the Merge Dance Company, she was able to perform in many cities throughout Texas and participated in many community outreach programs primarily in elementary schools. She was also a dance scholarship recipient. During her studies at Texas State, Dominique focused largely on somatics of the body and proper dance form to help with injury prevention. Anatomy and kinesiology have become her new favorite dance subjects and she uses them constantly while teaching to help keep her students healthy and pain free. She has also performed with the Shay Ishii Dance Company out of Austin, Texas in a special collaboration with the Texas State School of Music in a massively overwhelming performance of Carmina Burana, her most favorite performance to date. She has worked with many choreographers such as Jhon R Stronks of "there in the sunlight" contemporary dance, Sophia Torres of Psophonia Dance Company, Shani Henderson of the Northwest Dance Ensemble, Kim Olson of Sweet Edge in Boulder, Colorado, and Tanz Compagnie Giessen Dance Company of Germany. Most recently, Dominique has transferred her dance training into the world of aerial arts and loves everything silks. Dominique is also CPR and First Aid Certified. She is also a classically trained violinist and a huge NASA superfan. Dominique and her husband Jonathan live happily in League City with their two hyper Border Collies Max & Madeline, and their four cats Precious, Fannie, Boots, & Patch.
Dominique's main duties at the studio include teaching the core dance classes and company classes, as well as curriculum planning and teacher supervision. She also is the artistic director for all studio recitals. Modern, ballet, jazz, & lyrical are her discipline specialties.
